About the Bar

The daughter of Zeus and Demeter, Persephone is the beautiful Greek Goddess of life, death, and the underworld. She is also the Goddess of nature, Spring, and grain. Because she ruled the underworld, it was forbidden to speak her name. But this was not the fate she had planned. She was out picking flowers one day, and Hades opened the earth and dragged her down to his kingdom to be his bride. In her absence, the earth grew cold, plants died, and people began to starve. Persephone grew to love Hades but missed her life above ground. When her mother learned where she was and demanded she be returned, Hades offered her a pomegranate, knowing that if she ate or drank any food from the underworld, she would be bound to it. She ate six seeds from the pomegranate, binding herself to him but only for six months each year. Thus, the seasons were born. This soap features a pink ombre with cranberry seeds on top as a subtle nod to Persephone's pomegranate.
